The First Time Tyson Ritter Heard 'Swing Swing' on the Radio Was Magical

For any musician, the moment they hear their song on the radio for the very first time is really special. But, there's a very good chance no one else's first time on the radio story is more special or magical than The All-American Rejects' Tyson Ritter.

Tyson explains to iHeartRadio that the first time he heard his band's song on the radio for the first time, it was "Swing Swing." It also happened to be at the end of a night with a girl he thought was "completely untouchable" for him ... until later that night, anyway. 😉😉

Tyson explains of his younger years, "I was a fat kid in high school, I was not cool. I was the funny guy who had all the girl friends. Like, I would go to the lake, we'd go camping with my lady friends, and I would be the guy who slept in between the girls. And they'd be like 'Oh, Tyson, you're so cuddly.'"

FYI, here is young Tyson:

Anyway, back to the story. Tyson's crush, the "completely untouchable" girl, found herself in the car with him on the way home from a summer party. He recalls, "It was the summer that 'Swing Swing' came to life, which is a song of ours."

YES IT IS, AND IT'S A GREAT SONG, TYSON.

Tyson continues, "We're driving home, and the local radio station started playing 'Swing Swing.' And I remember looking over, it was literally as we pulled into her driveway, and I was like 'I don't know how this evening's gonna go. Maybe we'll have a nice night cap, and she'll send me in a cab and we'll exchange some butterfly kisses.' But, as we pulled into her driveway, 'Swing Swing' came on, and I remember looking over, and I could hear her neck roll over."

He adds, "Anyway, smash cut, that moment where it's just that amazing, romantic throwing each other around into the entryway of her parents' house. I remember her sister was there, as we walked in, just ripping at each other's bodies. And ... the rest of the night was poetry."

Tyson follows up with, "I mean, it probably wasn't even good. I honestly don't remember. I just remember what she looked like naked, and I was like, 'Oh my god, it's a naked girl! Ah, I'm 17.'"
