Slayer Farewell Show in Dallas Sells Out in 3 Minutes

Tickets to Slayer's upcoming farewell tour are already a hot commodity, as one Dallas promoter found and many Slayer fans in the Lone Star State found out the hard way.

The thrash metal legends announced their retirement at the conclusion of a coming world tour on which they are embarking with Anthrax, Lamb of God, Testament and Behemoth.

Tickets to the tour's stop at the 4,300-capacity Bomb Factory in Dallas, Texas, were all snatched up by hungry fans within just three minutes.

So if you're a Slayer fan in Dallas and you thought you had as many as four minutes to wait to get your tickets, your options now include: 1) not going, 2) trying to find reasonably-priced tickets to one of Slayer's other two Texas shows, 3) paying as much as $3,000 for after-market tickets.

Yes, some—though not all—general admission tickets to the Dallas show are listed for thousands online.

It would appear, however, that at the moment you can still find after-market tickets for general admission for around $200. But as those tickets sell in the months leading up to the show, would someone really fork over three grand to some ticket bot for Slayer?

Well, as the saying goes, "SLAYYYEEERRRRRR!"

So, we guess it's possible.

It's still odd this tour would be booked at such a small venue.

By comparison, as Metalsucks.net points out, Slayer, Anthrax and Behemoth sold out a 5,500-capacity venue in New York last year without the addition of Lamb of God and Testament.

And this year's stop in the New York City, Philadelphia, New Jersey-area will take place at an outdoor venue in Jersey that holds upwards of 17,000.

Hopefully the tour is able to add another Dallas show to protect its fans from draining their bank accounts due to a booking blunder.

The band revealed its North American itinerary last week, and the lineup leaves little doubt that each show will be near-transcendent for fans of extreme metal.

After co-founding Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman died of liver failure in 2013, many began to feel Slayer's days were numbered.

The band's shows in the ensuing four years (with former Exodus guitarist Gary Holt in Hanneman's place) have often felt like tributes to the late guitarist, who wrote some of extreme metal's most genre-defining songs with Slayer.

Slayer bassist and frontman Tom Araya hinted often since Hanneman's death that he's been considering retirement, citing health issues of his own—including spinal problems—and his desire to spend more time with his family.

Araya told Loudwire in 2016, "At 35 years, it's time to collect my pension. (Laughs) This is a career move."

Guitarist Kerry King has said that he's interested in projects beyond Slayer that he hasn't been able to pursue because of the band.

The band's most recent studio album was 2015's Repentless. It's not clear if Slayer is planning another studio album for the final tour.
