Brian Johnson Will Tour With AC/DC, Rumor Says

Just days after longtime AC/DC producer Mike Fraser confirmed he worked with the band last summer at Warehouse Studios in Vancouver and didn't dispute the rumors that Brian Johnson was involved in those sessions, another rumor has surfaced: that Johnson is planning to tour with the iconic band.

Johnson was forced to bow out of AC/DC's 'Rock Or Bust' world tour in 2016 after doctors warned him that he risked irreparable harm to his already damaged hearing if he stayed on the road. Even after Johnson was repeatedly spotted in Vancouver last summer with members of AC/DC, the thought remained that he might still not be healthy enough to tour.

Now, Eddie Trunk says he's heard that Johnson has returned to AC/DC full-time.

"I think AC/DC, it's pretty much a done deal that these guys are gonna make a record — or have made a record — and a record is gonna come out," Trunk said. "I have reliable sources that have told me that they are absolutely going to tour with Brian back again. That's all unconfirmed from their camp, but I had it from some reliable sources."

AC/DC has been completely silent since 2016, with the exception of some statements on the 2017 death of co-founding guitarist Malcolm Young.

Trunk continued, suggesting the forthcoming AC/DC album would be a tribute to Young, just like the band's hit 1980 album, Back In Black, was a tribute to late-front man Bon Scott.

Despite the initial dire warnings about Johnson's hearing, which he says was damaged during his auto racing hobby, the singer has been working with a cutting-edge in-ear monitor company to outfit him with equipment to protect his hearing on stage.

Since leaving AC/DC in 2016, Johnson has reappeared on stage a handful of times with artists like, Robert Plant, Muse and Mick Fleetwood.

In January, Johnson himself reportedly told some fans he ran into at a Florida airport that he was indeed back in AC/DC and "sick of denying it."
