Twenty One Pilots are getting ready to hit the road for the first time in two years, and they're treating fans to another edition of their tour diary YouTube series. In the first episode of their Takeøver Tour Series, Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun take viewers behind the scenes of tour rehearsal.
“This is happening. We’re actually going to be playing shows," Joseph says in the video, addressing the crew. "I could not help but think of one of my favorite quotes from one of my favorite movies—Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring. Galadriel says, ‘This quest stands upon the edge of a knife. Stray but a little, and it will fail.’ Why am I telling you that? Well, we’re not in the clear. I know you guys know there’s a lot of risk involved in going and playing shows right now, so I want you to know I appreciate you guys taking the extra precautions, being smart, and just know Josh and I will be doing the same. We’ll be trying as hard as we can to make sure we can get through this entire tour.”
The clip also features footage from TOP's Summerfest show (where they covered My Chemical Romance) and how the guys felt after playing.
“There were so many things that I did that I didn’t even think about, they just happened. I just realized like even almost two years and it just came back," Joseph admits while slumped in an elevator.
“Yeah, it’s like muscle memory,” Dun replies.
“Makes you realize it doesn’t go away, even after a little break. I gotta figure out when to sing and when not to, because I just ugh,” Joseph confesses while clenching his throat.
